How much money can you make from 400 kilograms of scrap wire? I invested the last money I had. I paid $1,000 for this entire pile of scrap wire. Now it's time to recycle it. Just look how low my car is from all this wire. I better unload it fast and get started. Luckily, I'm not alone. I have a little helper. I always start with the part I enjoy the least. Before I can process any of these cables, I have to straighten them, because they're usually a tangled mess. It takes a lot of time, but without this step, I simply can't continue. Once the cables are straight, I feed them one by one through a machine I bought from China. It does an excellent job cutting the outer insulation. I don't know if it's the fastest method, but it's the best equipment I have right now, and it gets the job done. I'd really like to buy a large industrial granulator someday. It would save me countless hours and allow me to process much more cable every day. If any of you own one, let me know in the comments where you bought it and how much it cost. I'm always looking for better equipment. After removing the black outer insulation, I still have a lot of work left. I need to pull all the wires out, untangle them again, and straighten them before moving on to the next step. This is where my homemade machine comes in. I designed and built it myself, and it's one of the most useful tools in my workshop. Instead of using a blade, it relies on two heavy metal rollers placed extremely close together. The copper wire passes through easily, while the insulation cracks under the pressure and separates from the copper. A lot of people think it's fake because there isn't a blade, but that's exactly what makes this design work. It's simple, reliable, and surprisingly effective. It works with wires from 1 to 4 square millimeters, and it has already helped me process thousands of pounds of cable. I'm always trying to improve my workflow and build better tools because every minute I save means I can recycle more copper. The weather has gotten really hot. The thermometer is showing 35 degrees Celsius, and if I had kept working outside, I probably would have ended up in the hospital. So I moved all the cable into the garage. It's much cooler in here, but I don't have enough space, so I have to cut every cable into 50 centimeter pieces. It takes longer, but I'd rather spend a couple of extra hours working in the garage than stay under the burning sun. I think you understand. The good news is that there's not much cable left. I probably have about 4 more hours of work before I finish everything. The hardest part is already done, and I'm really happy with the amount of copper I've recovered so far.
