Today I got a huge pile of thick aluminum cable for only about five dollars. Let's find out how much aluminum is hiding inside and how much money it's worth. Right now where I live, insulated aluminum wire sells for about one dollar and fifty cents per pound. What's the price where you live? Let me know in the comments. This cable is extremely tough. The insulation is very thick, so I heat it with a gas torch first. Once it softens, it's much easier to cut with a knife. Under the insulation, there's also a metal shield that protects the cable underground. I don't usually recycle aluminum. Copper is still my favorite. But lately, good copper scrap has become much harder to find. When someone offered me this cable for almost nothing, I couldn't pass it up. Do you think I should keep recycling aluminum or stick with copper? Leave a like if you'd like to see more aluminum videos. Honestly, I enjoy recycling this type of cable much more than spending hours on thin copper wires. Today I only had two hours to work and I didn't even finish half of the pile.
