Hashtags
Ranked by frequency, not by movement. Every video has exactly one observation, so “rising” cannot be computed at all. A frequency list labelled as a trend would be the most misleading thing this page could show.
81,490 distinct hashtags across 755,573 attachments on 223,525 posts. That is 33.6% of the 665,258 in the corpus, but 76.6% of the 291,950 posts that carry a caption at all. The second is the number to read: 56.1% of videos have an empty caption upstream, and a post with no caption can carry no hashtag, so the ceiling is set by caption presence rather than by tagging habits. Shares below use posts-with-hashtags as the denominator.

📍 Amlășel, Hunedoara County, Romania Hidden among the hills of Hunedoara County, Amlășel is one of Romania’s forgotten villages. Once home to dozens of families, the settlement slowly declined over the past century as residents left in search of better opportunities, leaving behind empty houses and quiet streets. Like many isolated villages in the Apuseni region, Amlășel depended on agriculture, livestock farming, and forestry. As younger generations moved to nearby towns and cities, the population continued to shrink, and many homes were abandoned. In recent years, Amlășel has become known for its dramatic depopulation. Reports have described the village as having only one permanent resident, an elderly man who chose to remain in the place where he had spent his entire life while the rest of the community disappeared. Today, nature is slowly reclaiming the village. Roofs have collapsed, gardens have turned into forests, and many houses stand empty. Walking through Amlășel feels like stepping back in time, a reminder of the hundreds of rural communities across Romania that have gradually faded away through depopulation rather than war or natural disaster. Although nearly forgotten, Amlășel remains a symbol of Romania’s disappearing villages and the quiet stories they continue to tell. #randomplaces #abandoned #ro #abandonedplaces #romania
📍 Cumpăna, Argeș County, Romania Hidden beneath the waters of Lake Vidraru lies one of Romania’s forgotten communities: Cumpăna. Once a small settlement in the Argeș Valley, it disappeared forever during the construction of the Vidraru Dam, one of Romania’s largest hydroelectric projects. Construction of the dam began in 1960, and as the reservoir gradually filled, the residents of Cumpăna were forced to leave their homes. Houses, roads, forests, and farmland slowly vanished beneath millions of cubic meters of water, creating the lake that exists today. Unlike villages abandoned because of war or economic decline, Cumpăna was intentionally sacrificed to make way for a project that would provide hydroelectric power to Romania. The community disappeared, but its story remains hidden beneath the surface of the reservoir. During years of severe drought or when the reservoir is drained for maintenance, the ruins of the old settlement can briefly reappear, revealing stone foundations, concrete structures, and traces of a village that has spent decades beneath the water. Today, thousands of tourists admire the beauty of Lake Vidraru, unaware that beneath its calm waters lies the remains of an entire community lost to one of Romania’s greatest engineering projects. #randomplaces #abandoned #ro #urbex #abandonedplaces
📍 Geamăna, Alba County, Romania 🇷🇴 Hidden in the Apuseni Mountains of Alba County, Geamăna was once a peaceful village surrounded by forests, rivers, and farmland. For centuries, hundreds of families lived here, relying on agriculture, livestock, and the rich natural resources of the region. Everything changed in 1978, when the Romanian communist government decided to exploit the nearby Roșia Poieni copper deposit, one of the largest in Europe. To store the enormous quantities of toxic mining waste produced by the mine, authorities chose the valley where Geamăna stood. More than 400 families were forced to leave their homes as a massive tailings pond gradually swallowed the village. Residents received compensation and were relocated, but many were devastated to leave behind the place where generations of their families had lived. As the years passed, houses, roads, schools, orchards, and even the cemetery disappeared beneath the toxic sludge. The only structure that remains visible today is the church tower, whose bell tower still rises above the surface of the contaminated lake, making it one of Romania’s most haunting landmarks. Unlike villages abandoned because of war, economic decline, or natural disasters, Geamăna was intentionally sacrificed for industrial development. Even today, the tailings pond continues to receive mining waste, and the area remains heavily polluted, with the church tower standing as a silent reminder of the community that once existed there. Today, Geamăna is one of Romania’s most famous ghost villages. Its partially submerged church has become a symbol of both the environmental cost of mining and the lives forever changed by one of the country’s largest industrial projects. #randomplaces #abandoned #romania #ro #urbex

📍 Ciudanovița, Caraș-Severin County, Romania Hidden in the Banat Mountains of Caraș-Severin County, Ciudanovița is one of Romania’s most unusual and controversial villages. Beneath its forests lies one of the country’s largest uranium deposits, a resource that would shape the village’s history for decades. Although uranium had been discovered earlier, large-scale mining began in the 1950s, when Romania, together with the Soviet Union, started extracting uranium for the Soviet nuclear program. Thousands of miners arrived in Ciudanovița, transforming the once-small village into a busy mining settlement almost overnight. For decades, uranium was extracted from the surrounding hills. While mining brought jobs and rapid development, it also left behind radioactive waste, abandoned galleries, and enormous tailings dumps. Many former mining areas still contain elevated levels of radiation, and environmental concerns remain to this day. After the fall of communism, uranium mining gradually declined, and the mines eventually closed. As employment disappeared, much of the population left in search of work elsewhere. Apartment blocks, industrial buildings, and mining infrastructure were abandoned, giving parts of Ciudanovița the appearance of a ghost town. Despite its reputation, Ciudanovița has not been abandoned. People still live here today, making it one of the few places in Europe where an active community exists alongside the remains of a former uranium mining industry. Because of its abandoned mines, radioactive history, and dramatic depopulation, Ciudanovița is often nicknamed “Romania’s Chernobyl.” While the comparison is symbolic rather than literal, the village remains one of the country’s most mysterious and fascinating places. #randomplaces #ro #nuclear #chernobyl #abandonedplaces

📍 Târgu Mureș, Mureș County, Romania Located in the heart of Transylvania, on the banks of the Mureș River, Târgu Mureș is one of Romania’s most beautiful and historic cities. Today, it serves as the administrative center of Mureș County and is known for its remarkable architecture, rich multicultural heritage, and important role in education, medicine, and culture. The city was first mentioned in historical documents in 1300 under the name Novum Forum Siculorum (“New Market of the Székelys”). Thanks to its strategic location, it quickly developed into a thriving market town, attracting merchants and craftsmen from across Transylvania. During the Middle Ages, Târgu Mureș became an important commercial and cultural center. Over the centuries, it belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary, the Principality of Transylvania, the Habsburg Monarchy, Austria-Hungary, and, after 1918, Romania. This diverse history has left a lasting mark on the city’s architecture and traditions. Many of Târgu Mureș’s most iconic buildings were constructed during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The magnificent Culture Palace, completed in 1913, is considered one of the finest examples of Hungarian Art Nouveau architecture in Europe. Nearby stands the City Hall, another architectural landmark that dominates the city’s historic center. The city is also home to the Târgu Mureș Fortress, originally built in the 15th century and later expanded into one of Transylvania’s important defensive structures. Today, it has been carefully restored and hosts cultural events, concerts, and exhibitions throughout the year. Throughout the 20th century, Târgu Mureș experienced rapid industrialization and urban growth. New neighborhoods, factories, universities, hospitals, and cultural institutions transformed it into one of Romania’s most important regional cities. It is especially well known for the George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology, attracting students from around the world. According to the 2021 Romanian census, Târgu Mureș has a population of 116,033, making it one of Romania’s largest cities. It is also one of the country’s most multicultural, with significant Romanian and Hungarian communities living side by side for centuries. Today, Târgu Mureș combines medieval history, elegant architecture, green parks, and a vibrant cultural life, making it one of the most unique and beautiful cities in Transylvania. #randomplaces #relaxing #chill #ro #transylvania
